What Is Hydrojetting and It's Benefits?

A stream of water is sprayed into the pipe at a high velocity and almost completely washes away the built-up sediment forming the blockage. The technique is superior to traditional snaking and rooting processes because it cleans the pipeline walls in addition to removing the clog. No dangerous chemicals are used; the disposal system is cleaned purely by the force of the water. Hydrojetting equipment includes a water tank, a hose, and a selection of nozzles with various flow rates, spray patterns and angles, etc. The hydrojetting system can pressurize the flow of water to more than 3,000 psi.

Hydrojetting Grease

Specific nozzles are available for eliminating hardened grease from drain lines. Restaurant owners are required by law to install grease traps under sinks and grease interceptors underground to limit leakage into the wastewater disposal system. These apparatuses must be cleaned or pumped periodically, with the removed grease taken to a recycling facility. Some plumbers may skim the top of the trap and leave solidified deposits at the bottom, causing sluggish drainage and unpleasant odor. Hydrojetting, in conjunction with grease-cutting agents, is often necessary for both inbound and outbound lines as hardened particles build up.

Hydrojetting Roots

Root saws, along with root-killing chemicals, may be used in conjunction with hydrojetting equipment to dispose of tree roots invading sewer lines. Water vapor escapes and then draws the tree roots to grow toward the pipes. If a root enters through a crack in the pipe wall, it is exposed to the warm, nutrient-filled water inside and begins to grow quickly. It continually catches oil, soap, and hair particles. The problem must be detected early and dealt with before the system backs up and the pipe cracks further or collapses. Special nozzles for hydrojetting machines are designed for the task.

Plumbing lines can be stopped up by anything that slips down the drain. Food particles from the kitchen sink can collect in the pipes, sometimes even after the grinding of the garbage disposal. Flour, rice, and potato peels should be thrown in the trash along with cooking grease. Hair and tiny tidbits of bar soap from the bathroom drain accumulate as well. When the debris gets impacted, it can cause a serious clog and require strong water pressure.
