Let’s All Celebrate Love a Tree Day

loveatree

How many of you are planning to celebrate National Love a Tree Day this year? If you did not know there was a holiday to celebrate trees, that’s okay! We honestly just found out about it ourselves. Love a Tree Day is a day to celebrate all the different types of trees, and all they do for us.

Centered in the middle of Garden for Wildlife month, Love a Tree Day will be celebrated on May 16th. It is a great opportunity to show our leafy friends some appreciation for making our world a better place!

If it was not for the trees, we would not be here today! We can keep trees growing and thriving in different ways, but one of the most important ways to help is by using water filters. Clean (unpolluted) water is the life force behind a healthy tree ecosystem.

Trees Need Clean Water Too

cleanwaterIt is not only humans that need clean water to survive. Trees also need it to continue to grow and be healthy. Polluted water, that is absorbed through the tree’s roots, will cause the tree to have trouble undergoing photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis (in basic terms) is a plants way of making food for itself. The water a tree absorbs undergoes a chemical process that turns water into energy. A side effect of photosynthesis is the release of oxygen.

If the water a tree is absorbing is polluted, the tree will have difficulty making food for itself; and the tree will eventually die. Clean water is essential to a thriving tree population, and a thriving human population as well!

Besides oxygen, we use trees for so many other things like shade and tree swings! Trees also provide food and shelter for an entire ecosystem of animals! Giving a tree a clean drink of water is not only helping the tree but almost every living thing on the planet!

Water Filtration Can Help

waterfilterJust as trees need clean water to drink, humans do as well. Humans are made up of approximately 60% water, and it is imperative that we consume water every day.

In fact, experts recommend we should be drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day, which equals to almost 182 gallons of water per year!

Drinking that much water per year makes it so important that we keep our drinking water clean! A water filtration system is one of the best ways to ensure your water is clean and safe to drink.

Polluted water can cause many illness and diseases. Contaminated water can cause waterborne illnesses such as:

  • Cholera
  • Typhoid
  • Guinea Worm disease
  • Dysentery

There are many other illnesses associated with polluted water, as well. Having a water filtration system in place will effectively cut down on these harmful diseases and allow us the security of knowing we are drinking clean water!

Help Us Celebrate Love a Tree Day

plantatreeThe best way to celebrate National Love a Tree Day is by (you guessed it) watering a tree! There is no need to stop at trees either! Water as many trees and plants as you are able. You can start in your own backyard.

Make sure the trees on your property are well cared for with clean water. Live in an apartment? No Problem! There are many parks and recreation areas where trees will be thankful to have a clean drink of water.

In fact, one of the easiest ways to provide clean drinking water for trees is by collecting rainwater. Rainwater is essentially clean and unpolluted. Leaving a bucket or water can outside is an easy and cost efficient way to make a difference!
